Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce have been friends for a long time now. They have won three Super Bowls together and been through heartbreaking defeats. Recently, Mahomes had to defend his teammate and friend from his own girlfriend, Taylor Swift. Swift has just released a new album titled The Tortured Poets Department. Although most songs are about her ex-boyfriends Matty Healy and Joe Alwyn, there are a few that may be about Travis Kelce.
According to Page Six, in Taylor’s song “So High School,” the singer says, “You know how to ball, I know Aristotle.” Many fans of Travis could see this as a backhanded compliment by Swift. However, that is where Mahomes comes into play. Patrick was quick to defend his friend by saying that he is actually very intelligent.
Patrick Mahomes Defends Travis Kelce
“He puts on this persona, I’m partying, drinking, whatever, but he’s really super intelligent,” Mahomes, 28, said.
Mahomes admits that Kelce is a huge party boy and that he can no longer keep up with him. However, he still knows his teammate is a smart man. Other than just being athletic, Kelce is a football genius. It is a huge reason why the Kansas City Chiefs have dominated season after season.
On the other hand, another song from Taylor Swift’s newest album praises Travis Kelce’s ability to be one of the best tight ends in the game. “These blokes warm the benches. We’ve been on a winning streak,” sings Taylor on “The Alchemy.”
Everyone knows how good Travis Kelce is on the field. Patrick Mahomes knows that all too well. However, Kelce is still capable of having intelligent conversations. Travis is not just some dumb jock. Taylor and Travis are still thriving, though. The couple are spending every second together before their careers call them away from each other once again.
