When divorce happens at any time, you hope that things will go well and it will be amicable. Sometimes you are lucky, other times you aren’t. You can find yourself in an unfortunate situation because of how your partner ends up reacting to the divorce. A Pennsylvania man had a crazy reaction to being separated from his wife. He ended up going to her house and destroying her property just because he couldn’t accept the divorce taking place. The wife ended up asking for legal advice, which is the least she can do regarding her situation.
The woman describes how she and her husband are separated and still going through divorce. She then details how her husband, the Pennsylvania man, came to her house at 4 am with a baseball bat. He proceeded to smash her car’s windshield. This didn’t leave him satisfied as he also backed into her car tent and destroyed it as well. The car isn’t even owned by the Pennsylvania man since it was titled to his wife. You would assume that police would intervene, but they ended up saying that she can’t do anything except file a Protection From Abuse (PFA) Order against him. According to the police, “the car is marital property, so he’s allowed to do that if he wants.”
People Reacting to the Pennsylvania Man’s Behavior
Most people in the comments were helpful as they tried to advise the wife on how she should act against her husband. Almost everyone advised her to get a lawyer to protect her from the Pennsylvania man. One person wrote, “OP get a lawyer immediately and push for that no contact order you shouldn’t have to live in fear of his tantrums. Stay safe, and document everything this could seriously help your case.” It’s a good thing that the woman also mentioned that she had the Pennsylvania man’s actions caught on camera. Another person said, “Escalate this higher with the police department. There are plenty of applicable charges for this. Get in touch with your divorce attorney.”
Some pointed out that the police should have had a different reaction to what the Pennsylvania man did. “Get a divorce lawyer to help; PA cops are notorious for not wanting to do their job and ignoring domestic abuse. A divorce lawyer will help better, and can help you on the steps to escalate this incident or use it to get a protective order or something,” one person advised. One Redditor kept the lawyer advice going by saying, “Divorce lawyer. They will ream him in court for this.” I just hope that the Pennsylvania woman will actually take people’s advice and try and stay safe.
