A new leak from a credible source claims that Persona 6 will not be released in 2024 as many avid fans had initially hoped. Persona 5 originally released in 2016 to widespread acclaim, resulting in massive hype for its follow-up, despite developer Atlus releasing next to no information about the game thus far. Atlus has a loaded upcoming schedule between this year’s Persona 5 Tactica, next year’s Persona 3 Reload, and the most-hyped title that remains shrouded in mystery, Persona 6. There has been a lot of speculation among the Persona fanbase, and even some alleged leaks, that the game would be arriving next year in 2024.
Persona 6 Not Releasing in 2024
A leaker by the name of “I’m A Hero Too” has built credibility through a number of accurate reports about the Japanese gaming industry. They recently gave accurate early information about the upcoming Atlus remake Persona 3 Reload, both its name and its announcement window, on top of a number of other credible leaks about games like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. The leaker recently took to the internet to put rumors about Persona 6 releasing in 2024 to bed, writing,
“Persona 6 is a bit further away than last time I updated. I don’t think it’s making 2024 (original plan was reveal last winter).”
Atlus has confirmed that Persona 6 is in the works, but that’s about the entirety of official information fans have about the upcoming JRPG. The result after seven years of near radio silence is many clawing for any scraps of info they can get their hands on.
Thankfully, I’m A Hero Too inserts a bit more thematic detail about the game in their report, writing, “Main theme of P6 is black and white.” That’s still a fairly small amount of information for what is certain to be a massive game. Still, considering how important the art style is to Persona games, it’s interesting to see what direction Atlus is apparently taking. Only time will tell how accurate these rumors wind up being.
