With the sequel coming early next year, EA and Popcap Games have announced that Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare has hit a milestone of 8 million active players. The game originally launched in February 2014.
To celebrate this milestone, Popcap is giving all Garden Warfare players a special reward. All accounts have been awarded 80,000 PvZ coins, allowing players the chance to mess around with the in-game currency. Most of the characters unlocked will be able to transfer to Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 when that game launches.
EA has also given some more numbers regarding Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare. Players have played over 1.4 billion games since the games initial launch. This averages out to roughly 1,600 matches a minute. So far, the Plants have killed over 7 billion Zombies.

Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare is a third-person multiplayer shooter that is based on the popular tower defense game. Players can take control of either the Plants or Zombies in a cooperative or competitive multiplayer environment. To progress in the game, players must complete challenges unique to each class. Upon completion, these challenges will level up the character. Leveling up allows the player to access features such as upgrades, new characters, weapon skins, and character clothing. The popular game’s “challenge pop-ups” closely resemble the notification system used on the Xbox One. The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions feature split-screen multiplayer, as well as Boss Mode, which is also supported in the PC version. This feature is similar to Commander mode from Battlefield 4.
Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 will be available on February 23rd. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
