As the brisk wind of Autumn blows down an oak covered street, splattering leaves of various red hues on the ground, we are reminded of the impending season of death and decay– WINTER.
Yes, it’s that time of year again when you can crack open a window, wash your clothes in pumpkin spice detergent, and indulge in the ghastlier things in life; like power-tool wielding maniacs in the woods.
Power Drill Massacre, a PuppetCombo game, might have had a brief moment in the YouTube spotlight within the last year, but October is the perfect time to steel yourself against the masked menace in the woods who loves power drills. Think of PDM as a grindhouse film infused with a creepy old VHS tape you found in that abandoned house down the street.
A hiking trip turns into a night of terror as a group of teens take refuge inside of an abandoned mansion in the woods. Too bad it’s home to a maniac with a power drill. Power Drill Massacre is a tribute to PS1 survival horror and the VHS format.

With engineered lo-fi charms, the trailer of PDM captures the grimy and unsettling tone that the 70’s exploitation films so properly encapsulated. I feel dirty just watching the trailer.
But what is this Power Drill Massacre?
Like any predictably group of dumb teens, you start PDM deep in the woods; with a wrecked van and a monolithic mansion on the hill calling your name like the sweet hum of a chainsaw, you inch toward the house. Soon, you find that you’re not alone in this house and secrets need to be solved for you to get out. I don’t want to give too much away, especially since there are a few moments that are worth powering through — even with the static cameras and janky controls of the game.
Just download the game and enjoy it for what it’s worth. You might just find yourself coming back for more… Power Drill Massacre!
