This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

Sony was bringing the old PS1, PS2, and PS3 games with the cloud-based PS Now service. The service is merged with PlayStation Plus, which is included in the Premium plan. It’s possible to play many classic old games with a Premium plan. And Sony’s still pushing for bringing more old games to its service.

The latest reports say Sony is working on a different method to make the old generation games alive. The patent submitted by Sony is simply explaining how that system works. If Sony could be successful in making the method happen, players to see a lot more PS1 games in their library.

PlayStation Plus Premium To Bring More PS1 Games With New Method

According to GameRant, Sony’s new patent is a new process to run old generation games. With the current method, Sony cannot patch old games to run them on cloud service. The software limitations were the problem for that, and nostalgia lovers were pushing Sony to play more games.

The method is changing the block system in the background. We can’t see the details, but Sony’s method compiles the old code with a different algorithm. That makes the old games much more playable and ready to stream. Our only information is that explanation image for now:

PS Now’s elder brother PlayStation Plus Premium is going to use this method

Also, the same source reports most old Konami and Capcom games are in the test for this method. These games are Castlevania Chronicles, Resident Evil 2, and Street Fighter Alpha 3 for now. And they’re testing more games to understand this process’ productivity.

If you remember, Sony released PS Classic a few years ago. It got its shape and games from PlayStation 1. But then Sony realized cloud-based services are a better and cheaper solution for gamers. They’re not giving up by supporting old generation games again.
