While E3 called it quits recently due to multiple publishers backing out at the last moment, it appears Sony is preparing for its very own PlayStation Showcase 2023. But we haven’t heard any news yet, except a small rumor for the most part. The event is expected to happen sometime before Geoff Keighly’s Summer Game Fest 2023.
PlayStation Showcase 2023 – When?
At least, that’s what we’ve heard from notable News Journalist, Jeff Grub. The games news journalist reported today on Twitter that PlayStation’s very own Showcase for 2023 is expected to happen sometime before June 8, 2023. This tweet did come after the fact that E3 2023 got canceled after multiple companies, tech giants, and publishers pulled out of the event to go their own way.
Developers and publishers like Sony, Microsoft, Ubisoft, Nintendo, and many others pulled out only to host their events later in the year. According to E3, ” The event simply did not garner the sustained interest necessary to execute it in a way that would showcase the size, strength, and impact of our industry.”
Of course, this could also be a prank on the part of April Fools being celebrated today. But it isn’t like Jeff to mess with his journalism for just a mere joke. Last year, PlayStation’s showcase happened right before Jeoff Keidghly’s Summer Games Fest in 2022.
We aren’t sure what is in store for us at PlayStation’s 2023 showcase, but it’s likely that we might get to see some more sneak peeks of Spider-Man 2 being developed by Insomniac Games. And that’s not all. Naughty Dog has also been working on a standalone multiplayer title.
So what are your thoughts on Sony going their own way to host their very own PlayStation Showcase for 2023? Will it happen right before Jeoff’s Summer Games Fest 2023? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
