Turtwig is an adorable Gass-Type Tiny Leaf Pokémon that can evolve into Grotle in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl. To obtain this Pokémon, Trainers will first need to acquire the National Dex from Professor Oak after finishing the base game. Turtwig spawns in the Great Underground, particularly in the Sunlit Cavern, Still-Water Cavern, Riverbank Cave, and Grassland Cave. If Turtwig doesn’t appear within an instanced zone, players can continuously exit and re-enter a location to refresh all the spawns of wild Pokémon. Alternatively, players can find an Unevolved Turtwig at Level 5 at Lake Verity using the Gift method.
How to Evolve Turtwig in Pokémon BDSP
To evolve Turtwig into Grotle in Pokémon BDSP, Trainers will need to level it up until Level 18+. If a captured Turtwig is already at a level higher than 18, then during the next level-up instance, the Turtwig will evolve into a Grotle in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl. Additionally, once Grotle attains Level 32+, it will turn into Torterra.

One of the best ways to power level a Pokémon in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl is by having it fight in the Hideaways. The wild Pokémon that spawn within these areas level scale to the player’s party, which means the XP earned from battles will always be profitable. To gain even more experience points from these encounters, Trainers can give their Pokémon a Lucky Egg, a special item in Pokémon BDSP that effectively ×1.5 the XP obtained from any battle. Lucky Eggs can be purchased from the Battle Tower for a price of 77 BP, or they can spawn throughout the world, such as in the Acuity Lakefront location in the Great Underground.
