Capturing a Pokémon in Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl isn’t the end of your journey with that creature. Now it’s time to learn everything you can about it. This not only helps you evolve them, but it also helps with understanding the best way to fight with them. In Skuntank’s case, understanding its weakness in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl will ensure you use it to the best of its abilities.

Skuntank’s Weakness in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl

Pokemon Skuntank

Known as the “skunk Pokémon”, Skuntank is a Poison/Dark-type Pokémon and it is exclusive to Brilliant Diamond. Because of its type, it is generally weak against Ground-type Pokémon. It typically takes around 2x damage against Ground moves. It has a smaller weakness against Dark, Ghost, Grass, and Poison-type Pokémon. Skuntank will take about 0.5x damage in this case.

Besides just learning Skuntank’s weakness in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl, let’s take a look at it overall. This way, you’ll figure out exactly how you want to utilize it in battle. For starters, its stats:

HP 103
Attack 93
Special Attack 71
Defense 67
Special Defense 61
Speed 84
Total 479

Skuntank can withstand some decent damage, so even if you face some of its weaknesses, you can hold your own with the right move set.

In Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl, Skuntank’s weakness aside, it hits pretty good with moves like Sucker Punch and Flamethrower. Alongside Belch, these are among its most powerful moves to send out. With a variety of move types, Skuntank is useful against a mixed batch of Pokémon.

Of course, if all else fails, you can always try to send an opponent packing with Explosion.

As a Poison/Dark-type, it’s not difficult to grasp Skuntank’s weakness in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl. Balancing out your party is key in case you run into some powerful Ground-type Pokémon with Skuntank along for the ride. Also, it’s good to know the weakness in case you ever encounter a wild Skuntank or an opponent one. This way, you’ll know exactly who to use to defeat it.
