Aurorus is a Rock and Ice-type Pokemon in Pokemon GO. If you recently acquired Amaura during the Adventure Week event, you may have already evolved it into Aurorus using Amaura Candies. Whether you’re considering using Aurorus or already have the Pokemon, you may be curious about just how powerful it is and whether it’s worth using in your party. This guide will provide the best Movesets and Counters for Aurorus in Pokemon GO.
Pokemon GO – The Best Movesets and Counters for Aurorus
The best moveset to use with Aurorus in Pokemon GO is Rock Throw and Weather Ball. They both have the highest DPS and Same-Type attack bonuses compared to other options like Hyper Beam and Thunderbolt while possessing two different types for various situations. This moveset is also effective during PVP battles. An alternative option if you’re looking for a more energy-efficient moveset is swapping Rock Throw with Powder Snow. While Powder Snow deals less damage, its EPS is nearly double that of Rock Throw and Frost Breath.

With every Pokemon, their movesets and the attack types used will help determine their effectiveness. While the optimal movesets for most of these Pokemon have either Fighting or Steel-type moves, they may use other ineffective moves against Aurorus. For example, Metagross’ Steel-type moves are much more effective against Aurorus than its Psychic-type counterparts. Additionally, if you do not have any of the Pokemon in the list above, you can create your party so that there are Pokemon with any of the six effective types listed above. As long as you have some of these types available in your party, you’ll still deal increased damage to Aurorus during battle.
