Like all other mainline Pokemon games, in the open-world title Pokemon Legends Arceus you can choose your traveling companion between a Grass, Fire, and Water-Type Pokemon. But unlike in previous games, this entry does not have brand new starter Pokemon, rather series veterans will meet familiar faces. However, the starters do have different final evolution exclusive to Pokemon Legends Arceus’s new region, Hisui. Let’s take a peek at the three Pokemon Legends Arceus starters and how their new evolutions look.
Pokemon Legends Arceus – Grass Starter
- Rowlet.
- Dartrix.
- Hisuian Decidueye.
Trainers who went with the Grass starter will start their adventure with a level 5 Rowlet. After reaching level 17, it then evolves into Dartrix just like in previous games.
However, once it reaches level 34, the Dartrix will eventually transform into Hisuian Decidueye. Unlike the original Decidueye that has Grass/Ghost dual-typing with a hooded archer or Robin Hood elements, Hisuian Decidueye instead is a Grass/Fighting Pokemon that seems to be inspired by a ronin or wandering samurai. Below are the strengths and weaknesses of the Grass/Fighting-Typed Hisuian Decidueye.
Type Weaknesses | Type Resistances |
Flying – Receive 4x damage | Ground – Receive 1/2x damage |
Poison – Receive 2x damage | Rock – Receive 1/2x damage |
Fire – Receive 2x damage | Water – Receive 1/2x damage |
Psychic – Receive 2x damage | Grass – Receive 1/2x damage |
Ice – Receive 2x damage | Electric – Receive 1/2x damage |
Fairy – Receive 2x damage | Dark – Receive 1/2x damage |
Pokemon Legends Arceus – Fire Starter
- Cyndaquil.
- Quilava.
- Hisuian Typhlosion.
Fire Pokemon fans will be accompanied by a level 5 Cyndaquill. Level it up to level 14, and then it will evolve into a Quilava.
In Pokemon Legends Arceus, Cyndaquil’s final evolution at level 36 is a Hisuian Typhlosion which is a Fire/Ghost Pokemon, unlike the original Typhlosion that only has Fire-Type. Below are the strengths and weaknesses of the Fire/Ghost-Typed Hisuian Typhlosion.
Type Weaknesses | Type Resistances |
Ground – Receive 2x damage | Normal – Immune |
Rock – Receive 2x damage | Fighting – Immune |
Ghost – Receive 2x damage | Bug – Receive 1/4x damage |
Water – Receive 2x damage | Steel – Receive 1/2x damage |
Dark – Receive 2x damage | Fire – Receive 1/2x damage |
Grass – Receive 1/2x damage
Ice – Receive 1/2x damage
Fairy – Receive 1/2x damage |
Pokemon Legends Arceus – Water Starter
- Oshawott.
- Dewott.
- Hisuian Samurott.
Lastly, if you want to go with a Water starter, then you’ll travel along with a level 5 Oshawott. As usual, once it reached level 17, it will transform into a Dewott.
As you can expect, Dewott evolves into a new Hisuian Samurott form once it gained enough XP to level 36 in Pokemon Legends Arceus. Similar to the Fire starter, the original Samurott is a single Water-Type Pokemon, meanwhile, Hisuian Samurott becomes a Water/Dark Pokemon — and now with a curlier mustache-beard combo to boot. Below are the strengths and weaknesses of the Water/Dark-Typed Hisuian Samurott.
Type Weaknesses | Type Resistances |
Fighting – Receive 4x damage | Psychic – Immune |
Bug – Receive 2x damage | Ghost – Receive 1/2x damage |
Grass – Receive 2x damage | Water – Receive 1/2x damage |
Electric – Receive 2x damage | Steel – Receive 1/2x damage |
Fairy – Receive 2x damage | Fire – Receive 1/2x damage |
Dark – Receive 1/2x damage
Ice – Receive 1/2x damage |
