Scyther is a Pokemon that debuted in Generation I of the long-running franchise and once again appears in the series’ latest entry, Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Scizor, the Pokemon that Scyther can evolve into also makes a return in the game, but Scyther has also received a brand-new evolution in Legends: Arceus called Kleavor.

Whether it is evolving into a returning favorite or into a new addition, players are going to want to know how to get their Scyther to evolve. This guide will explain how to evolve Scyther into either Scizor or the newly debuting Kleavor in Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

Unlike Sneasel, who received a new Hisui version along with their original Johto version, with both versions evolving into different Pokemon, there is still only one type of Scyther. Now, instead of only evolving into Scizor, it can also become Kleavor. The way to get these Pokemon depends on which Evolution Item you use on them. The Scizor evolution requirement is carried over from the previous games and requires you to use a Metal Coat on your Scyther to evolve them.

The Metal Coat is an Evolution Item that can be found at the Trading Post with an NPC named Simona. You can find her by going to the west of Galaxy Hall in Jubilife Village. She will sell you the Metal Coat for 1,000 Merit Points. There is also a chance that fighting or catching a Scizor in the wild will reward you with the item to evolve Scyther. Scizor can only be found in Space-Time Distortions. When it comes to the brand-new Kleavor, you will need to use the Black Augurite item.

Once you get yourself either the Metal Coat or the Black Augurite, you will be able to use the item on your Scyther to evolve it. Using the Black Augurite will give you the brand-new Kleavor Pokemon, while the Metal Coat will evolve your Scyther into the returning Scizor.
