Pokemon is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, and the franchise has been going all out with announcements, especially leading up to the official date of February 27.
The latest form of celebration attracts fans in a completely different way – the soundtrack. You will be able to purchase Junichi Masuda’s original tracks for Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue, as well as the anime, on a Pokeball vinyl. The art on both the vinyl and cover look amazing; the cover includes many of the original 151 Pokemon and even has a few cameo appearances from other favorite Nintendo characters.
However, this item truly lives up to the name of ‘collector’s edition.’ Only 500 copies of the vinyl are being produced, so if you want one, you might want to move fast. They can be found at Turntable Lab for $49.95. This is actually a pretty reasonable price since the soundtrack includes every single song found in the video games, without even adding in the anime soundtrack and artwork. If you grew up with Pokemon (90’s kids, anyone?), you’ll want to pick this up before it’s gone.
And if that doesn’t persuade you, perhaps listening to one of the songs included on the vinyl will change your mind. Here’s a small taste of nostalgia in the classic Gym theme.
