Misdreavus is a Ghost-type Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet that evolves into Mismagius once Trainers give it a specific evolution stone. Although this mischievous specter isn’t rare, some players struggle to encounter it. That’s because you must hunt this pocket monster after nightfall, the only time during which it wanders the overworld. Misdreavus can be found in many locations across Paldea, including the entire southwestern portion of the island, excluding residential areas. If Trainers explore this general zone during nighttime, they will eventually encounter the Screech Pokemon. Here’s how to catch and evolve Misdreavus in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
Finding Misdreavus in Pokemon Scarlet
As the Pokedex will tell you, Misdreavus appears at night and is often seen near ponds. Searching for this Pokemon near bodies of water after dark is the quickest way to track it down. Although you can evolve Misdreavus in either Scarlet or Violet, it’s a Pokemon Scarlet exclusive, so if you want to catch your own, you’ll have to do it in that game. A good place to start your search for Misdreavus is opposite the river south of Cortondo, in the marshland surrounding the singular pond in the area. Eating a Sandwich that bolsters Ghost-type Encounter Power will help find this Screech Pokemon, so chow down first.
Once you encounter a wild Misdreavus in Pokemon Scarlet, you’ll want to weaken it with Ghost- or Dark-type Moves before you catch it. Alternatively, an Ultra Ball or Quick Ball should secure an instant capture. The next step is evolving the Screech pocket monster into its superior magical form: Mismagius. You trigger this evolution by giving Misdreavus a Dusk Stone. That’s easier said than done if you don’t know how to find one.
Evolving Misdreavus with a Dusk Stone
Fortunately, you can secure a free Dusk Stone in the snowy town of Montenevera, behind the building north of the Montenevera Gym. You can also buy a Dusk Stone at the Porto Marinada Auctions, but the offerings at the market are randomized and change daily, so this method is less reliable. Alternatively, you can acquire a Dusk Stone as a reward for completing 130 Entries in the Paldea Pokédex. Once you’ve procured a Dusk Stone, give it to your Misdreavus to evolve it into Mismagius in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
