Amazon has found its latest hit a month after its release. Korean romantic drama Marry My Husband has become the biggest series on Prime Video today, overtaking Donald Glover’s Mr. and Mrs. Smith. The series follows Kang Ji-won (Park Min-Young), who is murdered by her husband and her best friend/his mistress. She goes back in time to seek revenge on them. It is based on a popular webcomic that gained enough popularity to be transitioned into a physical book by Sung Sojak. There are four novels in the series.
Marry My Husband Takes Over Prime Video, Leaving Sexy Spies Behind
On Flix Patrol, we see the rise of Marry My Husband on Prime Video. The adaptation made by Seong So Jak was released on January 1. It climbed up and down the charts until reaching number one today. Below it and the spy thriller are Reacher, The Grand Tour, Hazbin Hotel, Expats, The Boys, Rigo, Yo soy Betty la fea, and The Wheel of Time.
It took some time for the spy series that stars the Atlanta creator and Maya Erskine to be dethroned. The modernization of the Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie movie followed the two spies going into cover as a couple who would travel the world for their missions. With each mission, their relationship evolved from a cover to real love. The missions also brought heavy-hitting guest stars like Paul Dano, Sarah Paulson, Ron Pearlman, and more.
The driving factor for Marry My Husband‘s rise on Prime Video was its climatic finale. After 16 episodes, the final two episodes were released this week. Between that and word of mouth, it saw an enormous uptick in viewership to give it the bump it needed for the first-place spot of the top ten on the streaming service.
All 16 episodes of Marry My Husband are now available on Prime Video.
