Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s possible involvement in leaking details about a potential royal reconciliation put the Sussexes in a tight spot amid the royal rift. Photos of a meeting between representatives of the British monarch and the Sussexes at a private club in London surfaced over the weekend. The snaps, captured by The Mail on Sunday, showed the Sussexes’ head of Communications Meredith Maines and King Charles’ communications secretary Tobyn Andreae in talks on Wednesday, July 9.
Many have since speculated that Harry and Meghan had a hand in leaking the details of the secret peace meeting to the press. While the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have reportedly denied leaking the details, these speculations have continued to run wild.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Reportedly Desperate For Royal Link

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams believes this uncertainty, shrouding the leaked meeting, is creating a stir among royal circles and could potentially derail plans for a royal reconciliation, ultimately prolonging the rift between Prince Harry and his dad, King Charles. Richard pointed out that reports pinning this leaked meeting on Harry and Meghan weren’t unfounded, as the two stood to gain the most, with little to lose. He told the Daily Mail,
“It is clear that any contact with the Royal Family, which could have positive connotations, is pivotal to them as they have nothing else to offer. They want to be associated with ‘reconciliation’, yet have previously been so destructive.”
Going further, the expert noted that such a leak, although beneficial to the Sussexes, still threatened an “extremely controversial” ripple effect on the royal family. He also noted that while the source of the leak remains shrouded in mystery, other aspects of the secret royal peace summit have become hot topics, including the motive behind the meeting and other parties who knew about it beforehand. Additionally, whether or not Prince William knew about the secret meeting reportedly aimed at healing the rift between Prince Harry and King Charles, or found out via the press like the rest of the world, has also sparked debate.
Sussexes’ Incorporate Royal Structure in California Home in Strategic Move
Richard Fitzwilliams also dished on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s pull towards a more royal structure in their California life. He cited the Sussexes’ staff reshuffling, which took place this year, most notably, with the strategic hiring of new staff members, including Meredith Maines, who joined the squad in February. Richard believes this similarity to the structure within the royal household suggests Harry’s yearning for his dignified royal life. He divulged,
“Meredith Maines joined the Sussexes earlier this year. She is the most senior aide in the arrangement nicknamed ‘the Sussex Royal Household’, formed in June, which was reportedly intended to resemble the structure Harry used to work with when he was a senior working royal.”
He went on to accuse Meredith of orchestrating Prince Harry’s scandalous BBC interview back in May. According to him, the comms secretary, who previously worked with Hulu and Google, intended the interview to be a short one, but it ended up running for over half an hour, with the Prince spewing heavy claims about his dad’s role in his lost bid for automatic UK police security. Sadly, that interview further damaged Harry’s reputation within royal circles and the public at large. With the couple grappling to salvage what’s left of their reputation, holding on to hopes of reconciliation remains a foolproof means of staying relevant.
