Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are being criticized online after deciding to withdraw their children from a new school in the UK following their recent departure from California.
Hello! Magazine reported that the royal couple decided to move Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet to another school. This comes just two days after they started at their new school. The decision reportedly came amid security concerns the parents had about getting the children to and from the original property.
According to the publication, Archie and Lilibet had already met their classmates. The couple then made the controversial decision to withdraw them from the school. The decision was reportedly made based on advice from Harry and Meghan’s security team.
“Sources close to the couple have made clear there was no issue with the school itself, but rather with the practicalities of getting them there and back,” the magazine claimed. Some of the factors contributing to the decision included heavy traffic in the area. At one point, the traffic made it difficult for the security team’s vehicles to stay together in a convoy. This quickly raised concerns.
“It’s a real shame, because they absolutely adored the school, the kids and their parents. It was perfect for them in every way and the children really enjoyed their time there,” a friend of the couple told Hello!.
Archie and Lilibet are now set to attend another school in the area, with preparations already underway for the move. A spokesman for the Duke and Duchess also told HELLO!, “The decision for the children to move school was taken following a discussion with the family’s security team about the practicalities of their current arrangements.”
Previous Security Concerns
A broader security dispute has also followed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle since their time in the UK. After stepping down as working royals in 2020, Harry lost his automatic entitlement to publicly funded police protection while in Britain. This prompted him to challenge the decision in court. He argued that the change placed his family at risk. He also repeatedly expressed concerns about bringing Meghan and their children to the UK without the same level of protection they previously received. In May 2025, the UK Court of Appeal upheld the decision. Harry continued to receive a bespoke security arrangement based on specific risk assessments.
The latest school decision also comes against the backdrop of the couple’s longer history of security concerns in the UK. While the circumstances are different, both situations involve Harry and Meghan’s security team assessing the risks surrounding their family’s movements and arrangements. The decision to move Archie and Lilibet therefore reflects concerns the couple has previously raised about their family’s safety while in Britain.
Internet Slam Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Security Concerns After California Departure
The latest reports about the security concerns surrounding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle following their departure from California have drawn criticism online. Some people accused the couple of using the situation to seek additional security measures. “They’re so disgusting that they would pull their kids out of a perfectly good school after a couple of days just to make a fake case for security concerns they don’t give a [expletive] about their kids,” one person wrote.
Another person added, “This doesn’t really seem like security concern, but more of an ‘I want outriders with sirens to clear the way so I can looks super important and don’t have to wait my turn to drop my kids off scenario.’”
More people criticized the couple over the decision. One person said, “Traffic.Becuase they obviously don’t really care about the day to day lives of those kids because any normal parent(&their security)would’ve already seen the high traffic around school. Not only do they move their kids across [world emoji] but provide more trauma by starting yet another school.” Someone else claimed, “They want Royal Security paid for by the citizens..they have been asking for this forever..”
The latest decision has renewed debate over the security concerns Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have raised in recent years. It also left viewers divided over whether those concerns are justified given the circumstances surrounding their family’s arrangements.
