It’s been a little over 3 months now after the PlayStation 5 console has been released, and the first major update is around the corner. The update will be out for everyone tomorrow!
Hideaki Nishino, the Senior Vice President of Platform Planning and Management, brings us all of the information about the update through the PlayStation Blog. This update is targeted to enhance the user experience by improving many aspects and adding some new features.
Let’s run through what we are going to get with this PS5 console update
A new feature brings you the ability to store your PS5 games on a USB drive. You can just copy the game from your device’s internal storage onto a USB extended storage. It’s as easy as that.
It has also been stated that copying and installing from a USB is going to be faster than downloading or copying and installing from a disc. So you’re getting faster installing and copy times and extended storage. Keep in mind the USB must be compatible.
This update is for the PS5 and the PS4. With this update, Share Play has just become Cross-Generation.
With this update, PS5 players can share their screens with other PS4 players, let them control the game from their PS4, even play co-op with them. This feature applies both ways.
A new Request To Join option will be implemented, which will drastically reduce the loading times that you would need to join your friend’s session. A list of joinable sessions of your friends will be available to help you choose easily.
The Game Base has been improved for the PlayStation 5 console. The main focus was on Parties and Friends. Switching between Parties and Friends, viewing the status of your Friends, notification control for the party that you are in will all be available from tomorrow.
Big title updates for owned games will be pre-downloaded to your console while it is on or in rest mode. This will help reduce the waiting time, and you will have access to the updates faster than ever. This will only work when it is allowed by the game developers themselves. Also, for this to work, you will have to have Auto Updates turned on.
Some Trophy settings have been tinkered with. You can now choose what Trophies should be captured and shown during automatic captures or screen recordings. A new Trophy Stats screen is also going to get implemented, which will show you all you need to know about your trophies easily.
The Screen Zoom can be altered to your liking now. The magnification can be done from the Settings menu.
These were the main features and improvements you can look forward to in the upcoming update. The PS5 is just getting and started and this update is just the tip of the iceberg. Did this update improve or add any useful features that you were looking forward to having? Tell us in the comments!
