You’d hope that at least one day could go by without another racist incident making the rounds online, but lately, that feels impossible. Across America, these encounters seem to happen almost daily, and the latest one took place in Florida.
A video filmed by a Black man at a gas station captured the moment a racist Karen began harassing him. In the clip, she stood uncomfortably close, invading his personal space before launching into insults. “You are the biggest [expletive] piece of [expletive],” she yelled. She then accused him of smelling like weed, which seemed to be her excuse for the confrontation. When he calmly told her to “get back,” she mockingly repeated his words, as if she couldn’t believe he was standing up for himself.
When the Florida man told the Karen that she was being recorded, she didn’t care in the slightest. Instead, she doubled down, repeating her claim that he smelled like weed and saying it was coming from his car. “You’ve been [expletive] driving like a piece of [expletive],” she shouted. The video didn’t show whether his driving was actually bad or if there was any weed involved, but even if either was true, it still didn’t justify what came next. “[Expletive] you. You’re a [expletive] [N-word],” she screamed.
Throughout the confrontation, the man stayed remarkably calm, simply telling her to back away. As the Karen started heading toward her car, she hurled one last vile remark: “I hope you get [expletive] murdered.” At that point, her behavior wasn’t just racist, it was threatening.
Instead of leaving, she turned back and walked toward him again, prompting him to say, “Don’t touch me.” He eventually walked away as she stood there, glaring at him. The video ended before showing what happened next, but hopefully, that was the last of her harassment.
People Reacting to the Racist Florida Karen
People were left shocked by how the Florida Karen acted. Her racist and violent language wasn’t accepted by many of those who saw the video. Since a lot of people believe that most racists support Trump, one person wrote, “maga America.” One woman was also shocked at what the Karen said. “Did she say she hopes he get murdered wowwww,” she wrote. Others were convinced that this behavior is normal in Florida. “This is typical Florida , not shocked,” one person said. Someone else wrote, “She’s lucky he’s not like the typical man I know from Florida that could’ve gotten dangerous.” He definitely managed to stay calm during the situation.
Many people were outraged by what happened. One commenter said the Karen’s behavior was unacceptable, even if the man had been smoking weed. “These racist people and Karens need to stop. I don’t like the smell either, but there’s no way I’m going to bother someone else about it. I’m curious if she actually works for State Farm,” she wrote.
Surprisingly, one person tried to defend the Karen. “I’m team ‘lady calling out the person driving under the influence and his dangerous driving.’ Sticks and stones may break your bones, and so will fatal car accidents. But words will never hurt you,” they commented.
That kind of response doesn’t help; it just makes them part of the problem. Even if the man had been smoking weed, there’s no excuse for being racist.
