A New York man was labeled racist after calling an Asian couple immigrants and threatening to call ICE on them during a dispute over a parking spot.
One member of the couple shared a video of the encounter on Reddit, writing, “I’m honestly still in shock after what happened yesterday.” They explained that they and their partner had parked in “a legal, free street parking spot while waiting on our laundry.” The man then approached them and demanded to know “what the hell” they were doing parked in front of his house.
The man allegedly threatened to beat the individual, saying that “he would usually beat up people like us” in reference to their Asian background. That was when the person who shared the video began recording. They asked the man to repeat what he had just said, but the confrontation only escalated.
In the video, the man could be heard telling the individual, “watch your mouth.” The person then challenged him over his alleged threat to beat people like them, prompting the man to respond, “I will beat the [expletive] out of you.”
The Reddit user then rolled up their window as the man approached their vehicle. After standing beside the window, he gave the couple the middle finger before walking away and hurling another insult at the individual. They responded by asking whether he had a job. The man said that he did and claimed to own his own company.
The man continued escalating the confrontation by threatening to call ICE on the couple. “Go away before I call ICE and have them pick you up,” he told the Reddit user, who was left stunned by the threat. He then called the couple “[expletive] immigrants.”
The man continued using racist language, telling the couple, “Get out of the country, immigrant.” In response, the person recording told him, “[expletive] off MAGA.” He continued calling them immigrants and assumed that one of them was Chinese. The video ended with the man declaring, “That’s right. I am racist,” before going back inside his house.
Victim of Racist Incident Adds More Details
The Reddit user who experienced the racist harassment alongside their partner shared further details in the post. “He assumed my Asian partner was Chinese and directed a racist insult at him,” they wrote. They also added, “We have videos from both my perspective and my partner’s, and you can clearly see and hear what happened.”
The individual then warned others about visiting the man’s house during Halloween. “With Halloween coming up, I also noticed a trick-or-treat sign outside his house in Flushing, Queens. Given what happened, I wanted to make people in the area aware and encourage parents to use their judgment when trick-or-treating nearby,” they wrote.
They ended the post by saying, “I don’t know what else to say. This was genuinely disturbing, and I don’t think anyone should have to put up with this. Please look out for each other and stay safe out there.”
Viewers Outraged Over New York Man’s Racist Outburst
The majority of viewers online were outraged after watching the video of the New York man harassing the Asian couple with racist remarks. Many demanded that he face consequences for his behavior. “Time to make this man famous so he can spread his love,” one person wrote. Another person said, “I’ve been by that house many times bike riding…. Ironic considering where he lives is a big Korean community and near Northern Blvd. He must really hate his life.”
More people continued criticizing the man, with one person writing, “It must be HORRIBLE for him, since it’s clear he’s racist and he is surrounded by Asians.” Others expressed sympathy for the couple, with one person telling them, “wow, that sucks you had to experience such racist behavior and a downright rude attitude from that guy. If you’re not blocking a driveway nor are you in a no park zone, it’s free game. The guy’s territorial over nothing. Stay safe out here.”
The confrontation brought renewed attention to the racist harassment and discrimination that members of minority communities continue to experience in their everyday lives. It also highlighted the importance of challenging such behavior rather than allowing it to go unchecked. In addition to this, incidents like this raise concerns about the treatment of people based on their ethnicity and background.
