Atari has long been known for its range of consoles and videogames, for an entire generation, the company is synonymous with the entire industry.

In the near future, they could be known for something else too, namely hotels. It has been announced today that Atari has partnered with GSD group to bring a range of video game-themed Atari hotels to the USA.

The first hotel will be in Phoenix, AZ and will actually break ground later this year. Additional hotels are then planned for Las Vegas, Denver, Chicago, Austin, Seattle, San Francisco, and San Jose. It’s safe to say there’s plenty of Atari goodness coming our way.

The hotels will offer fully immersive gaming experiences for gamers of all ages and abilities, they will include virtual reality as well as augmented reality and will accommodate Esports at certain venues.

CEO of Atari, Fred Chesnais, had this to say about the venture:

“We are thrilled to partner with GSD group and True North Studio to build the first-ever Atari branded hotels across the United States. Together we’ll build a space that will be much more than just a place to stay. Atari is an iconic global brand that resonates with people of all ages, countries, cultures and ethnic backgrounds and we cannot wait for our fans and their families to enjoy this new hotel concept.”

As you can see from the picture above, the hotels themselves do look pretty striking in the concept art. I look forward to seeing what they are like both inside and out when they are done. Depressingly, they will all probably be completed before the next console, the VCS, actually see’s a release.

We’ll bring you more information on both when we have it. In the meantime, let us know your fondest memories of Atari and be sure to let us know if you plan on staying in one of these when they are built.

I know I’d love to.
