For anyone who was in the process of playing Resident Evil 2 or 3 recently, you might be aware that both games randomly lost their ray tracing settings. The change was quite random and came as a surprise to everyone, even Capcom, especially those who had the settings enabled. Capcom just confirmed that the ray tracing settings vanishing from Resident Evil 2 and 3 was indeed not intentional and that the company is working on fixing it soon. And that, too, alongside the Resident Evil 4 Remake Separate Ways mode.
This may not be an issue for anyone playing the games with ray tracing turned off. But those fortunate enough to experience the games in their full glory probably weren’t happy when both Resident Evil 2 and 3 lost their ability to run at the highest fidelity possible.
That is not all, as Capcom also mentioned other issues that players had faced, one of the most notable ones being 3D audio also vanishing from the options menu. It seems the patch that removed Resident Evil 2 and 3’s ray tracing options also knocked out the 3D audio settings, so it is likely that the same bug is to blame.
Ray Tracing Will Return To Resident Evil 2 And 3, Says Capcom
While Capcom has confirmed that a fix is on the way, no timeline has been confirmed about when it might make it to the games. This shouldn’t come as a surprise because both Resident Evil 2 and 3 came out a while ago, and with Resident Evil 4 Remake enjoying its time on the stage, Capcom has its hands full with the phenomenal remake. The latest entry is not only getting bug fixes and other improvements but is also getting new game modes as well.
Mercenaries mode has already made it to the game, and if the recent datamines are to be believed, Separate Ways will also be arriving in Resident Evil 4 Remake soon. Separate Ways sees players take control of the fan-favorite Ada Wong and is quite likely to come out fairly soon.
