The upcoming Resident Evil 3 remake will come with a $180 collectors edition exclusive to GameStop.
This news comes along with the official reveal of the Resident Evil 3 remake, which ships with spin-off Project Resistance. With the critical and financial success of 2019’s Resident Evil 2 remake, it comes as no surprise that Capcom would want to capitalize on a sequel.
As pointed out by Twitter user @Wario64, North American fans of the Resident Evil series can take home the collectors edition for $179.99. It comes with an 11″ Jill Valentine figurine, a double-sided map of Racoon City, digital soundtrack, artbook, and physical version of the game. These items come packaged in a S.T.A.R.S item box modeled after those seen in the game. There is no word on a European equivalent yet. As a preorder bonus, players will also receive the Classic Costume Pack for Jill and Carlos.
Resident Evil 3: Nemesis takes place around the events of RE2 with Jill Valentine, the protagonist of the first game, taking center stage. Jill must escape Racoon City while being chased by a new villain, the Nemesis. The game was first released for the PlayStation 1 in 1999 to critic and consumer acclaim. It is regarded as the first game to introduce a combat-driven narrative to the franchise.
As revealed in the Tuesday’s State of Play, the remake comes as the campaign component to online co-op spin-off Project Resistance. This came as quite a surprise as players were expecting Project Resistance to be a standalone title. The Resident Evil 3 remake will adopt an over-the-shoulder perspective to make it more accessible to modern audiences.
The remake is set to release on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on April 3, 2020.
