Close to reaching its two-year mark, Capcom has revealed that Resident Evil 4 Remake sales have surpassed nine million units worldwide. Out of all the remakes we got back in 2023, RE4 stood as the best of them all. While some were a bit skeptical about this new iteration changing what made the classic so iconic, everything ended up being fine, if not better. And while we’re still waiting for anything new about Resident Evil, it is nice to see Leon’s most iconic adventure still standing strong.
Resident Evil 4 Remake Sales Reach 9 Million
Shared by the Capcom Dev 1 X (formerly known as Twitter) account, the message says:
The surprising thing about it is that even if Resident Evil 4 Remake has been out for a while, its sales numbers have not dwindled. For example, on March 12, 2024, the official Resident Evil X account shared the game had sold seven million units.
That means that in the span of almost a year, two million players have acquired the remake, which just shows the quality of the game during its release.
Another thing that might’ve helped the sales numbers might involve the release of the further DLC. After the initial launch, Resident Evil 4 Remake got its Separate Ways DLC on September 20, 2023. This expansion brought Ada Wong to the role of a playable character and told parts of the main story from her point of view. While many weren’t happy about this expansion not being included in the main game as the classic version of Resident Evil 4 did, the reception was fantastic, and it currently holds a Very Positive review score on Steam.
With a new gaming year upon us, it is uncertain what Capcom is cooking for its most famous survival horror franchise. Yes, there have been a few leaks here and there, but nothing’s set in stone. Hopefully, 2025 will bring some more zombie-infested adventures for all Resident Evil fans.
