With the theatrical release of Resident Evil: Death Island, Kadokawa has released the opening title sequence on their Youtube page. Currently, the title will only be available until August 31st. The film will release on home video and digital on July 25th. This is a bit after its initial July 7th release in Japan. Sony released an official trailer for the movie on July 7th. At the moment, it is unknown if the Resident Evil movie will be available for streaming.
The movie is set to follow Leon Kennedy as he is on a mission to rescue Dr. Antonio Taylor. However, a mysterious woman derails his plan. Meanwhile, Chris Redfield is investigating a bizarre and unidentifiable zombie outbreak in San Francisco. The only thing the victims seem to have in common is that they all visited Alcatraz Island. Following that, Chris and his team set out to the island to fight the new horrors and zombies that await them.

The Resident Evil CG movies first started with Resident Evil: Degeneration. Usually, the films would follow fan-favorite characters Leon Kennedy, Claire Redfield, Jill Valentine, and Chris Redfield fighting against the zombie outbreaks. Occasionally, they would team up with other people, such as locals or other franchise characters. However, the Upcoming Death Island movie makes itself different by featuring Chris, Leon, Claire, and Jill taking on the threat together.
Eiichiro Hasumi confirmed that the Resident Evil: Death Island movie will be set in 2015. This would put the film in between the events of Resident Evil 6 and Resident Evil: Biohazard. It will also serve as a direct continuation of the previous CGI movie, Resident Evil: Vendetta. It was also important to note that while the movies have game tie-ins, they can be watched on their own with no prior knowledge. Along with Hasumi, Makoto Fukami will be credited as the movie’s producer.
