With all of the build up to Civil War and all the fan glee about Spider-Man’s role in it, some people seem to have forgotten the other awesome thing about Sony letting Marvel use Spider-Man. Not only will the wonderful web-head be appearing in Marvel’s movies, but Marvel’s heroes will be appearing in Spidey’s solo movies. And the first to appear will be the Ironman who started off the whole MCU; Robert Downey Jr.

“Let’s face it, this is definitely the most awesome thing you’ve caught me doing.”

And the news about Robert Downey Jr. is perfectly timed as it counteracts  the disappointing news that Michael Keaton has dropped out of talks to appear as Spider-Man: Homecoming’s main villain. According to Deadline;

“Sony Pictures’ reboot of Spider-Man will include Iron Man himself, Robert Downey Jr., as it ramps up ahead of production ahead of a July 2017 release date. But the news today comes as Michael Keaton, who was being courted to play the villain in the pic, has fallen out of early talks and won’t be a part of the project. That had been a juicy idea as it would have put the onetime Batman star in a Spidey movie, but we’re told this is not happening and the search continues to fill the role.”

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man reboot will hit cinemas in 2017.
