Robert Downey Jr. has hung up his Iron Man suit, leaving the Marvel Kingdom to deal with a new place, the animal kingdom, in the Dolittle trailer.

This film sees Downey Jr. going across Europe to find a cure for the ill queen. After long secluding himself in his manor with exotic animals, Dolittle is forced to set sail to a mythical island. He must use mind, his fists and his ability to talk to animals to stay alive and finish the quest.

Dolittle also features Rami Malek, Octavia Spencer, John Cena and Kumail Nanjiani voicing Downey’s animal companions. Because voice CGI animals are the thing you do after winning an Oscar, it’s Hollywood 101. Take a look at the trailer below.

Not My Dolittle

Eddie Murphy as Dolittle

The Dolittle people are most familiar with is the 1998 remake, Dr. Dolittle, starring Eddie Murphy as the titular character. The remake spawned two sequels with the final entry having Kyla Pratt as the lead.

However, before people start complaining about the change on Twitter, they should probably know Dolittle’s first cinematic experience a 1967 musical. The movies are actually based on a series of children’s novels dating back to 1920, so the line for turning up your noses starts behind your grandpappy.

Dolittle is scheduled to hit theatres Jan. 17th, 2020 with all the CGI animals that can fit on the big screen minus the smell. Rugrats Go Wild still holds that honor with the Smell-O-Vision scratch and sniff cards. Now, go reminiscence while reading about another product of the 90s Will Smith in Gemini Man.

What are your thoughts on the new Dolittle project? What should Robert Downey Jr. star in next? Did you care for the 90s Dr. Dolittle films? Leave your comments!
