Last we saw fan favorite Natasha Romanoff, she was sacrificing herself in order to obtain the Soul Stone on the planet Vormir. Just as Thanos had to sacrifice someone he loved in Infinity War so to did Hawkeye and/or Black Widow. Although both tried to make the leap, it was Natasha who eventually gave her life so that Hawkeye could go back with the prize.
Fans of Johansson will be delighted to know that Black Widow will fight once again. All that is known thus far is that the new movie will be a prequel. Joining Scar-Jo on screen will be David Harbour, O-T Fagbenle, Florence Pugh, and Rachel Weisz. Not much is currently known about their respective roles.
Fans have been clamoring for a Black Widow movie for years, but the project has never gotten off the ground. With Kevin Feige and the MCU looking to bring more female-centric superheroes to the forefront, it’s a no-brainer that a Widow movie would hit the fast track.
Black Widow isn’t the only MCU character getting a solo venture. The Disney+ service is planning several TV shows featuring Hawkeye, Vision and Scarlet Witch, and one centered around Loki.
In the comicbook world, dead doesn’t always mean gone. We’ll have to wait a little bit longer to find out more details on all of these projects. In the meantime, it’s just nice to know some of our favorites will be back soon.
