Raiding is an important concept to know in Rust. Knowledge about raiding might save your base from raiders or allow you to raid potential neighbors who might raid you. There are many things you should be aware of while raiding, and this Rust beginner guide for raiding will teach you the basics. You need to pay attention to everything while keeping an eye on your surroundings and never let your guard down. Since you will make a lot of noise with explosives, you will attract all kinds of players with or without weapons toward that area, and you can lose everything with a moment of distraction.

What You Should Know Before Raiding as a Beginner in Rust

Rust Sealing Base

While raiding in Rust, you should be able to seal the base as soon as possible to secure loot. If you don’t seal the base, other players or the base owner might place a Tool Cupboard and place doors to the base. To prevent this kind of situation, always craft necessary items like x2 Metal Doors, x3 Code Lock, Tool Cupboard, Hammer, and Building Plan. If you don’t have a lot of Gun Powder in Rust, you might want cheap options to destroy the Tool Cupboard.

Fire is the best option when it comes to destroying wood objects, and Molotov Cocktails in Rust are currently meta. Place your own Tool Cupboard right after destroying theirs, and place Code Lock. Now you should be able to seal the base. Build a two-door airlock where you blasted to ensure safe entry and exit while transferring loot. After this stage, you can break the Sleeping Bags to secure the base completely and check the loot you have earned.

Scout the Base You Intend to Raid in Rust

Using Drone

It is very important to know the bases you are going to raid in advance. Scout it naked or from the air with the help of an aerial vehicle such as a Drone or Minicopter and look for its weaknesses. Try to figure out where you can enter with the least amount of explosives and where the Tool Cupboard might be located.

If the base you intend to raid is a 2×2 or 2×1 base without honeycombs, you can check out the number two tip on our 10 Best Rust Tips You Might Not Know guide.

Build a Raid Base Before Raiding in Rust

Beginner Guide for <yoastmark class=

Building a Raid Base is such a lifesaver, especially if you are trying to raid a big or medium-sized base. While raiding a base, you can die very unluckily. And if the base you’re trying to raid is far from where you live, it may be too late by the time you get back to the action. Therefore, if you are a group of 3-4 people, it would be much wiser to use Raid Base.

You should place the Raid Base in front of the base you are going to raid in a high-rise way and put windows. Through these windows, your teammates can fire Rockets or protect you with their weapons. In addition, your spare gear sets, plenty of Medical Syringes, and extra explosives will be waiting safely inside this Raid Base.

Know Raiding Tools Well as a Beginner in Rust

If you want to raid a Wooden Door or Wood Wall, these are the best raid tools you can use.

  • Fire Arrow
  • Molotov Cocktail
  • Flame Thrower
  • Incendiary Rocket
  • Satchel
  • Explosive 5.56 Rifle Ammo

Satchel and Explosive 5.56 Rifle Ammo are relatively expensive explosives to craft, but considering you will be raiding a wood base, these are much simpler and guaranteed solutions. The cheapest of these options in terms of Sulfur will be the Incendiary Rocket. But at the end of the day, it makes the most sense to use Molotov Cocktail or Flame Thrower for a wooden base.

If you plan to explode a building higher than Wood, like Metal, Stone, or High Quality, you can only do it with these explosives.

  • Timed Explosive Charge
  • Explosive 5.56 Rifle Ammo
  • MLRS Rocket
  • Rocket
  • Beancan Grenade
  • Satchel Charge

Once you have chosen your target, try to decide where to explode and try to calculate explosives according to where you will blow up. For example, if you think there are only 2 Sheet Metal Doors in a base, you will need 8 Satchel Charges in total. Use Rust Labs to find the most logical and cheap raiding method. On this website, you can select the type of door or wall you want to blast and see how many explosives and how much Sulfur it requires in total.

Rust is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
