At one point, you have to ask yourself when will police brutality stop. Will it even ever stop? You keep seeing horrible examples where innocent civilians are attacked by those who are supposed to protect them. Yet, protection seems not to be the police’s main concern under the Trump administration. A Washington DC Black civilian got firsthand experience of police being ruthless. He was violently attacked for such a silly reason which is filming. The guy decided to film police officers during their patrols and this is his right. He isn’t doing anything wrong. Police officers in Washington DC believed that he was committing a crime that deserved punishment. One of the officers turns around and pepper-sprays the innocent guy. Things then start escalating.
After the Washington DC police unjustifiably pepper-sprayed the innocent Black civilian, they brutally tackled him to the ground. I used they because they decided that they need more than four people to arrest the man. At one point, five police officers are surrounding him with some on top of him. It even appeared that one of them was putting the guy’s legs in cuffs. They are acting as if he were holding a gun instead of a mobile phone. They then start leading him away almost looking like they were dragging him rather than letting him walk. Since when was it a crime for citizens to film cops? What are they afraid of being caught on camera? Everyone involved in this ruthless arrest should be held accountable and suspended.
People Reacting to the Brutal Washington DC Arrest
Of course, people were outraged by the violent Washington DC arrest and how the police acted. Such behavior won’t make the police gain supporters at all. This is why one person wrote, “It’s a pig pile.” This is how people see them. Another person agreed with this description as they said, “Yah why did it take 5 officers to take down one person? They might need more training. Plus maybe go after criminals and not innocent bystanders. You’re the police not ICE.” At this point, ICE and the police are behaving the same way. There was also one person who couldn’t wait until more people started using smart glasses. “With smart glasses becoming more main stream, they soon wont be able to tell who is recording. Big win for the public,” they wrote. But just like someone said, “They will make them illegal.”
Others started pointing out how the Washington DC police’s action could cause a lot of damage. “Using those cans of spray nearer than a certain distance can literally penetrate the eyeballs and cause irreversible damage. F**k those pigs,” one person wrote. This made someone else say, “Cops like him don’t care about the damage they do to others. In fact it’s a reason some people become cops or join the military.” This is something I can believe. Since the arrest was unreasonable, one Redditor wrote, “Wonder what law they think he broke.” Another person had an answer ready as they said, “Act Against Excessive Melanin, 2025.” You do have to wonder if cops would have acted in the same way if they were arresting a White person.
