Prepare to meet your new favorite superhero. Ryan Reynolds posted on his social media accounts that Deadpool 3 will hit its summer 2024 window and feature Dogpool. The film, featuring Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and other mysterious cameos, was set to be the MCU’s first rated R movie in May 2024. Now, it is reportedly hitting July.
In typical comedic fashion, the actor wrote that the dog did not “save the day” but is “causing the Disney plush merch department nightmares.”
Ryan Reynolds Determined for Deadpool 3 to Release in Summer 2024 Alongside Dogpool
He posed whether Dogpool saved the day in response to the SAG-AFTRA strike ending last night (November 8). The film was shooting earlier this year, getting a good chunk of the production done, until SAG-AFTRA went on strike. Now, it can begin to finish up by this July.
Deadline reported that it is not confirmed, but it is possible a swap of dates from Marvel that led to this new summer window. Ryan Reynolds was set to reprise his role as the anti-hero in May, but Deadpool 3 can swap to the July date, pushing Captain America: Brave New World to the May slot.
Introducing Dogpool for Deadpool 3 could mean Ryan Reynolds is doing something silly, or we could read too much into it. In the comics, Deadpool goes through different universes to gather more Deadpools, including a dog that was experimented to be given similar powers. As we are in the Multiverse Saga, this could mean something for the plot or a fun character to pop in briefly.
Deadpool 3 will reunite Ryan Reynolds with previous cast members. Those returning stars include Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Shioli Kutsuna as Yukio, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Stefan Kapici as Colossus, and Rob Delaney as Peter. Newcomers include Jackman, reprising his role as Wolverine; Jennifer Garner, returning as Elektra from her time in 2003’s Daredevil; Emma Corrin (The Crown), and Matthew Macfayden (Succession).
