Sarah Ferguson Undergoes Surgery for Breast Cancer
In a statement to People, a spokesperson for Sarah Ferguson revealed doctors detected an early form of breast cancer during a routine mammogram screening and advised her to undergo surgery. The surgery took place last week at King Edward VII Hospital. The hospital, located in central London has tended the health needs of a lot of senior royals in the past, including the late Queen Elizabeth II.
According to the rep, the surgery turned out successful. She has since returned home to her family in Windsor, where she continues to reside with her ex, Prince Andrew. With care from her family and medical experts, the royal is now recuperating and has a great chance of recovery. The spokesperson revealed,
“The Duchess is receiving the best medical care and her doctors have told her that the prognosis is good. She is now recuperating with her family. The Duchess wants to express her immense gratitude to all the medical staff who have supported her in recent days.”
Additionally, she remains thankful to those involved in detecting her illness at its early stage despite being symptom-free. Sarah Ferguson believes her experience as a breast cancer survivor validates the importance of regular screening. She is set to discuss it on a pre-recorded episode of her podcast, which airs on Monday morning.
