The drama between Prince Andrew and King Charles III continues to spell trouble for third parties like Sarah Ferguson. Although she is the Duke of York’s ex-wife, sources claim the children’s book author is caught in the crossfire. She has reportedly been forced to take her ex-husband’s side in the brewing Royal Lodge battle. However, according to palace insiders, choosing to support Andrew might become her undoing.
The royal feud between Charles and Andrew began over the latter’s ties to the late sex offender Jeffery Epstein. Sources claimed the King disapproved of how his younger brother handled the abuse allegations against him. The Duke was accused of sex crimes by an alleged victim, Virginia Giuffre, and eventually settled out of court.
However, the private settlement destroyed Andrew’s image, forcing him to step down as a working royal. The public saw his move as an admission of guilt, and the King tried to downsize him. For the past two years, Charles attempted to evict his brother from the Royal Lodge, but Andrew refused. His efforts to remain in the residence placed his ex-wife and two daughters in a difficult position.
The insider explained that Ferguson has been “trying to play Switzerland between Andrew and his family” for several years. However, standing by her ex-husband’s side made her a victim of frequent media and personal assaults. The feud has been draining the mother of two, especially with Andrew’s unrelenting dependency on her. The source, per In Touch, said:
“She still loves Andrew like a brother, but she also needs to think of her own future, and the reality is if she gets on the bad side of Charles, it could cost her a whole lot.”
Prince Andrew’s Drama Might Cost Sarah Ferguson the Royal Holiday Celebrations
The feud between Andrew and Charles has reportedly worsened to the point where they are not speaking. Another source, former royal correspondent Stephen Bates, claimed the King saw his brother as “damaged goods.” Because of his infamy, the Duke was unlikely to participate in the royal family’s Christmas celebrations at Sandringham.
The first source claimed Charles did not want “Andrew to even show his face at Sandringham.” On that note, Ferguson wouldn’t be able to attend the celebrations despite being welcome because her ex-husband was banned. The source added that she could still not win if the opposite happened, saying:
“If he does go, then she’s got to show him some support, or he’ll fly off the handle. It’s a total nightmare for her. She’s so sick and tired of being dragged down by him.”
We previously covered that Andrew’s feud with Charles has been a pain for his family. A source claimed Ferguson and her daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie had become the Duke’s only hope. They described him as a “lost puppy” unable to stop depending on the trio for “emotional support.”
The insider noted Andrew was “increasingly clingy,” and his constant need for support had become unbearable for his family. Ferguson bore the brunt of it, with the source claiming her ex “unloads every frustration on her.” Additionally, his bad rep was “starting to reflect poorly on her as well,” yet the Duke didn’t notice.
