We’re back again with yet another update for Sea of Thieves! It feels like it has been a while since the last update, but we’ve had a lot to sink into while we’ve waited. The Haunted Shores update brought along a lot of fun and interesting stuff to the game, especially in its ghostly ship battles. My friends and I find them a lot of fun, especially since they bring something truly unique to Sea of Thieves. If there’s anything in particular you enjoyed from that update, be sure to let us know! Today though, we have something a bit different compared to last month. Sea of Thieves brings with it today the Ashen Winds update, introducing a new world encounter and reward with it. You can find the update trailer below.

Ashen Winds’ biggest change comes in this new encounter, pitting you against one of four Ashen Lords. These new foes are meant to put your Sea of Thieves skills to the test, offering new attacks you haven’t seen before. Their biggest attack, the “Roar of the Devil” is one to be feared. You’ll have to hop into the game today to find out just what it entails. You can spot one of these Ashen Lords and go after them using the massive fire tornado in your world. Those who manage to take on these Ashen Lords and succeed will be granted the Ashen Winds Skull. This can be sold like normal, but can also be used as a flamethrower against your opponents. Be careful though, as the skull devalues based on how much fire you use.

Outside of this massive world event, Sea of Thieves’ Ashen Winds update also brings about new cosmetics from Duke and the Pirate Emporium. You can get Ashen themed skins for your pets, Kraken outfits, the Fearless Bone Crusher set, and much more! Go visit Duke and view the Pirate Emporium to see the full sets in all their glory. Along with these are plenty of quality of life improvements and bug fixes. You can find the full list of changes within the official patch notes.

Sea of Thieves is available on Xbox One and PC through Steam and the Microsoft Store. We’d love to hear your thoughts on these changes. Will you be looking to set your opponents ablaze with the new tool? Do any cosmetics catch your eye? Let us know, and stay tuned at The Nerd Stash for all your news, reviews, and more!
