For many, Summer Game Fest might be a thing of the past, but some of us are still talking about it, especially since it was the biggest and best we’ve had in years. We got several new announcements, update reveals, surprise DLCs, and dozens of franchise revivals we truly weren’t expecting. However, among all the studios that appeared during the Summer of Gaming, we believe SEGA was the secret winner due to a lineup that eclipsed many other games at the show.

We already saw the teaser, so it wasn’t a surprise per se, but it is always great to see one of the most anticipated sequels get a bit of footage to keep us eager for it. One of the first and most shocking announcements was a better look at Alien: Isolation 2. Now, we didn’t see a lot of gameplay, but we got to see some of the new harrowing locales we’ll be visiting in this installment, which look much more terrifying than those of its predecessor, and yes, we see that as a positive thing. Currently, there isn’t a release date for Alien: Isolation 2, but we know it is on its way.

Stranger Than Heaven Showed Its Cast of Characters

STRANGER THAN HEAVEN | Tupac & Cast Reveal Trailer

Stranger Than Heaven has been building up a lot of hype ever since SEGA and RGG Studio revealed it, but we got a jaw-dropping surprise during Summer Game Fest. Besides announcing that Takaya Kuroda, Kiryu’s VA from Like a Dragon/Yakuza, the legendary singer Ado, and many more would be joining this adventure, we also learned that Tupac would be part of this. Naturally, this broke the internet, but SEGA had more to show. We also got more gameplay footage of the combat and exploration of the map, which truly shows the power of RGG Studio in this new IP. And remember, Stranger Than Heaven is launching on January 15, 2027.

The Long-Awaited Return of Crazy Taxi

Crazy Taxi: World Tour | Announcement Trailer

We all heard whispers of the return of Crazy Taxi, and well, the series is certainly coming back in full force and also going global. Crazy Taxi: World Tour will take players all around the globe in the chaotic driving action we love from the series, albeit with better systems, visuals, and all the mayhem we can expect. Unfortunately, we don’t have a release date for this one yet, but it is great to see that the series is making a comeback, and in a much bigger way than any of us expected.

If there is one game that 4X fans have been asking for ages, it is a Total War title in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, and SEGA and Creative Assembly have answered everyone’s pleas. While many already saw the announcement for it last year, Summer Game Fest surprised us with a deeper look at some of its systems and the monumental battles that are iconic to the series. Creative Assembly is still working hard on this one, but you can already wishlist it and even register for the closed beta.

Virtua Fighter Is, Hands Down, the Best-Looking Fighting Game of Recent Times

VIRTUA FIGHTER CROSSROADS | Official Reveal Trailer

On top of working on Stranger Than Heaven, RGG Studio and SEGA also blew everyone’s minds with the stylish reveal trailer of Virtua Fighter Crossroads. Even if it was short, this trailer was more than enough to convince us that this new Virtua Fighter is the best-looking fighting game of recent years, and one that, in terms of fighting mechanics, looks fantastic. There’s still a long road before we can step into the arena, but it is great to see many new and familiar faces in this long-awaited installment.

Persona 6 Is Real

Persona 6 — Teaser Trailer

Atlus finally announced Persona 6 during the Xbox Games Showcase, and well, it was only a small teaser, but that’s all we needed to get hyped. There are almost no details about the RPG, but if history has taught us anything, it is that Atlus knows its audience and will surely release yet another RPG that will go down in the history books as one of the best. We’re extremely eager to see what this new mainline entry delivers, especially after what the studio did for Metaphor: ReFantazio.

Metaphor: ReFantazio Is Coming to Nintendo Switch 2

Metaphor: ReFantazio — Announce Trailer | Nintendo Switch 2

Speaking of Metaphor: ReFantazio, we also got confirmation that the best RPG of 2024 is landing on Nintendo’s latest console. Contrary to other titles that were announced during the show, this one has a release date, and it isn’t too far away. Nintendo Switch 2 owners will be able to play this RPG on November 12, 2026. So, if you have been craving for a hundred-hour title with excellent combat mechanics and an unforgettable story, now’s the time to get this one.
