Selena Gomez has shocked Instagram as side-by-side photos of her in a strapless top show her figure changing over the space of six years. Last month, a fan account shared two photos of the 31-year-old, both of which were initially shared on her IG, where 428 million are subscribed. The 2018 photo, famously posted by Selena as she considered deleting it because she thought it was a bit “much,” showed her all sultry in a cleavage-baring tube top as she posed with a cocktail. The 2024 one featured the ex to Justin Bieber in a likewise busty top and some months after she addressed her fluctuating weight.
Selena made January headlines for bravely opening up about being curvier. She confirmed that her weight can fluctuate based on taking (or not taking) the medication she prescribed to manage her Lupus disease.

The left-hand photo showed Selena all sassy as she flashed her curves in a skintight black top. The image was initially shared in September 2018 as the Rare Beauty founder enjoyed a night out. Looking gorgeous with her hair scraped back, Selena sizzled as she also showed off her shapely arms, and it looks like she’s a fan of the strapless black look.
The 2024 selfie, meanwhile, showed the star facing the camera and during the day, this time peeping her abs as she braved a very low neckline and rocked her bombshell locks down. Showing a fuller figure as fans continue to back her body-positive mindset, Selena stunned with red lipstick and in hoop earrings, something she’s also donned for the 2018 snapshot.
Fans Say She Looks ‘Different’
Selena’s fans seemingly had plenty to say. “Watching ppl go thru a midlife crisis is so uncomfortable,” one said, gaining over 190 likes. With over 1,000 fans agreeing, another wrote: “If someone can tell me what happened to this woman’s face please.”
While one fan claimed that the Texans looks “different,” another replied: “How her birthmark in a different place.” That said, many remarks did come in from fans who had followed the January headlines Selena made as she posted side-by-side bikini photos a decade apart before saying that she would “never look” this way again.
Defending the star, one user clapped back, saying: “You all realize she’s battling a lifelong condition called lupus. She’s had an organ transplant. She’s getting older. She’s gonna change just like you do. The negative comments are so dumb.”
In 2017, Selena successfully underwent a life-saving kidney transplant, again for her Lupus. She joins body-positive celebrities including singer Demi Lovato and model Ashley Graham.
