Selena Gomez went low-key as she goat soaking wet in her bathtub for a major Instagram announcement back in January 2020. The 31-year-old singer was posting to ramp up hype for her yet-to-drop Rare album, and it was bathtime game strong as she posed from a tub and in a soaking-wet white shirt for her fans.
Selena was, at the time, rising to become the most-followed woman on Instagram. In 2023, she gained mass support in the wake of her alleged feud with model Hailey Bieber, something that catapulted her rise in following — Gomez now boasts 294 million IG fans and is the most-followed woman on the social media platform.
Selena Gomez Shares Bathtub Snap For Instagram Countdown
Posting five days before the January 10, 2023 release of Rare, Selena reminded fans that there was less than a week to go before her latest beats were live.
In a polaroid snap showing her shot fairly close up, the “Wolves” hitmaker was photographed in a fitted white shirt while in a tub filled with soapy water. Affording a sheer finish thanks to the soaking-wet fabrics, the former Disney star low-key flaunted her fit figure, also showing off her signature back tattoo via the sheer shirt.
Gazing to the side as the water rose to her torso, Selena placed one hand near her chest, also holding her other one up a little and showcasing a wine-colored manicure.
Starting Her Big Countdown
Wearing barely any makeup as she opted for a pared-down finish, Selena sported her dark locks down and around her shoulders. In a caption, the Rare Beauty founder wrote: “People can go from people you know to people you don’t. #5DaysToRare.”
The caption came directly quoting lyrics from the star’s “People You Know” track. Fans have left the post over 4 million likes.
Also shared in January 2020 were Selena’s thoughts as she developed her studio album.
“I wanted a record that made people feel something,” the A-Lister told Billboard. “Whether that was a hard relationship to get through, or gaining your confidence back, or being okay with just having fun. So there’s different layers to it, and I’m so grateful that it ended up becoming what it is now, after four and a half years,” she added.
Selena has since made headlines for addressing her fluctuating weight, sharing a swimwear snap from a decade ago and comparing it to a more recent, curvier shot. In a body positive message, Gomez said that she “will never look like this again.”
