Selena Gomez‘s latest Instagram Stories have fans convinced that she’s teasing something big. On Aug. 18, the star shared a series of photos involving the iconic singer, Linda Ronstadt. Gomez began by posting a screenshot of her listening to Ronstadt’s 1977 cover of “Blue Bayou.” She then shared a black-and-white photo of the music legend before reposting a quote from her as well. Since there have been rumors the actress will star in a Linda Ronstadt biopic, fans think Selena Gomez’s latest Instagram Stories hint it’s actually happening.

It’s been an exciting month for Gomez fans. On Aug. 8, Gomez’s hit Hulu series, Only Murders In The Building, returned for its third season. Then, on Aug. 17, the star announced that she’ll be marking her return to music with her upcoming song, “Single Soon.” Now, just a day after sharing her big music news, Gomez is raising speculation that she’ll play Ronstadt in a biopic.
Of course, Gomez’s posts could just be her way of expressing her love for Ronstadt. However, Selena Gomez’s latest Instagram Stories arrived at an interesting time. On July 12, the gossip site Showbiz411 reported that producer James Keach approached Gomez about potentially playing Ronstadt in a future project. It’s not far-fetched to think it may happen, considering Gomez is not only a talented actress but singer as well. Similar to Ronstadt, Gomez is also Mexican-American and has dabbled in Latin music. Not to mention, she’s also a long-time Ronstadt fan and even looks like her, too.
In fact, Gomez once commented on her resemblance to the singer in a 2015 interview with On Air With Ryan Seacrest. “I always used to get told that I looked like her and I started listening to her music because of that,” she said. Gomez mentioned the resemblance after saying her Revival cover reminded her of Ronstadt.
Although Gomez hasn’t addressed the speculation about starring in a biopic about the singer, fans are crossing their fingers that her casting will be confirmed soon.
