It’s only days to the long-anticipated 2023 Super Bowl, and many artists set to perform on D-day are understandably nervous, including the Savage Fenty queen. Actress Sheryl Lee Ralph recalled meeting Rihanna on Thursday, days before her scheduled Super Bowl Halftime show performance. The two women discussed everything, from makeup tips to the big game.
During an interview with People, Sheryl recounted their brief exchange, admitting her initial fascination after meeting the crooner up close. She admitted she was especially fascinated by Rihanna’s height, as the songstress was much taller than she imagined. Additionally, the Lift Me Up singer turned out to be “a beautiful amazon” in person, befitting the CEO of Savage Fenty. Aside from physical appearances, Sheryl also commended Rihanna’s capabilities, saying:
“She’s got like a warrior spirit, you know? It’s like, ‘No, why would you mess with her? No, why would you mess with her? No, you’ll never win. No, she’s winning all the time. I loved it. It was great meeting her.”
Sheryl Lee Ralph Disclosed Her Conversation With Rihanna Ahead Of Super Bowl
Once the initial shock of meeting Rihanna on Thursday at the 12th annual NFL Honors wore off, Sheryl Lee Ralph got to have an actual conversation with the beauty mogul, centered around their respective Super Bowl Performances. The two women shared beauty tips, with the Fenty Beauty frontwoman offering her quota to glam up a nervous Sheryl for her big day. The actress divulged:
“You know what Rihanna said to me? She said, ‘I’m sending you all the makeup you will ever need. Please make sure you are a Fab Fenty face on Sunday.’ I said, ‘For you? Absolutely.'”
Sure enough, Sheryl has no plans to go back on her promise to Rihanna, admitting to interviewers that she planned to “Fenty down” for the Super Bowl appearance. Notably, Sheryl would perform Lift Every Voice and Sing as part of the pre-game lineup on Sunday, while Rihanna would do her long-anticipated Super Bowl Halftime show.
The 66-year-old admitted feeling nervous and far from “ready” barely three days before the event. She hoped with more practice, she could perfect her routine and give an amazing performance come Sunday. Previously, insiders admitted Rihanna also felt nervous ahead of the show, as it would be her first stage appearance in a long time. Notwithstanding, she remains determined to crush the halftime show, which she deems her biggest career milestone yet.
