Being homeless is undeniably tough. There are many everyday things that people with stable housing take for granted. These things can become near impossible for someone without a home. It’s understandable, then, why homeless individuals may sometimes act out of desperation. That said, there are still lines that shouldn’t be crossed, and one of those is engaging in sexual activity in public spaces. Unfortunately, visitors at the Cal Anderson Play Area in Seattle, Washington, were recently forced to witness exactly that.
Unless you’re a voyeur, most people don’t enjoy being subjected to someone else’s intimate acts. But on this bright, sunny day, parkgoers had no choice. In a video uploaded by Reddit user Thin-Leadership3284, two homeless people can be seen lying on the ground under a large, dark blanket near a tree. Though the blanket was wide enough to cover their upper bodies, their feet were clearly visible, and they were lying close to one another in a position that immediately raised suspicion.
While their faces and identities remained hidden, it was obvious what was happening beneath the blanket. The movement of the person in the back, specifically the repetitive hip thrusting, left little to the imagination. Anyone remotely familiar with sexual activity would instantly recognize the rhythm.
What made the incident worse was its location and timing. The homeless pair were not tucked away in some quiet corner but were right out in the open, in the middle of the day, at a children’s play area in Cal Anderson Park. The park was clearly busy. Aside from the individual filming, others could be seen nearby, many awkwardly turning their heads and doing their best to ignore the scene.
The video, which lasts just 14 seconds, doesn’t show any children, but given the setting, it’s very possible they were present off-screen. Regardless, no one should be subjected to that kind of situation, especially not in a place meant for families.
Redditors were both disgusted and shocked by the incident involving the homeless couple. Some expressed disbelief that the pair could even stand to be that physically close in such hot weather. Others voiced concern over whether the person on the receiving end was actually conscious. According to the original poster, Thin-Leadership3284, they were, although they appeared to be high.
One user even shared a disturbing personal experience of witnessing something similar: “A few weeks ago I saw a guy leaning into his open car, half in the street, with his pants down having sex with a woman in the middle of Ballard Ave at like 7pm. A sight I wish I could unsee.”
