Looks like a war is brewing between Batman and Catwoman in DC’s next big crossover event called “Showdown!”. While nothing is officially confirmed, some recent teaser images point to some trouble between Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle. Not to mention the event is literally titled “Showdown!”, so there is that. Still, we will have to wait until the event, which is part of the Dawn of DC initiative, debuts.

Teasing a “Showdown!”
Batman artist Jorge Jimenez kicked off the speculation with a teaser image on his Twitter page (thanks CBR). The image shows the iconic Bat-Symbol scratched out by Catwoman’s equally iconic claw marks. Jimenez, who created the image, simply tagged the photo with “BOOM”.
The image also shows off the creative team behind this crossover event. Jimenez is back with his Batman writer Chip Zdarsky for the event. Meanwhile, the Catwomancreative team of Tini Howard and Nico Leon are also in the mix. Currently, Zdarsky and Jimenez are tackling a Batman solo series that places Bruce Wayne in an alternate version of Gotham. Here, the caped crusader is running into twisted versions of iconic characters like Two-Face and The Riddler.
Meanwhile, Howard and Leon are taking Selina Kyle down a difficult road. Catwoman is currently in prison after a run-in with Punchline. However, some tension with Bruce Wayne is already brewing for the feline-themed hero. During that run-in with Punchline, Catwoman killed her lover to save Batman. Since then, she has struggled to deal with the trauma.
A Big Event for a Big Initiative
This “Showdown!” event is part of DC’s “Dawn of DC” publishing initiative. Since January, DC has been publishing and teasing new series, crossovers, and other comic goodness. Recently, DC released a first look at the upcoming Wonder Woman reboot from Tom King and Daniel Sampere. Plus, we got a look at the creepy Batman: The Bold and the Brave art from Mith Gerads
