Can you believe that Dead by Daylight came out back in 2016? To me the game still feels new, despite the fact it also feels as if it’s been with us forever, which is strange.

Dead by Daylight currently has over 20 million players globally across all platforms and despite the fact it’s been out for 4 years now I’ve never really found the time, or desire, to sit down and give it a fair chance. Until now.

In an announcement today, which I have spoiled with the headline, it has been revealed that the newest chapter for Dead by Daylight will finally see the return of Silent Hill in a medium that isn’t played using little metal balls. Stupid Pachinko, I both love and hate you.

Dead by Daylight: Silent Hill is live now on the public test build over on Steam and will come to consoles on June 16. Game director, Mathieu Cote had this to say regarding the reveal:

“We are so thrilled to welcome Silent Hill as Chapter 16 of Dead by Daylight. Silent Hill is such an iconic video game licence and to add it to our legendary roster of horror is truly an honor. We hope players will have as much fun discovering this Chapter as we had in making it.”

As part of this release a new map will be available based on Midwich Elementary school, a place that any Silent Hill fan will hold inside them for a long time to come. Cheryl Mason will take her place as a new survivor and I obviously don’t need to tell you who the new killer is do I?

It’s Robbie The Rabbit.

Surprise, I lied as obviously it’s the only character from the Silent Hill franchise who has appeared absolutely anywhere they can shove him. It’s Pyramid head of course, or Red Pyramid Thing to give it the proper name.

As a killer it makes sense, but the character has been overused. I’m still excited, but I do actually really wish it was Robbie instead as that would be absolutely terrifying. Maybe if I lobby enough it can happen.

Whether you’re a fan of Dead by Daylight or not it’s still great to see the world of Silent Hill back in some form. It seems that Konami hasn’t completely forgotten about the franchise. Here’s hoping the recent rumors about a proper comeback aren’t completely false.

Let us know your thoughts on this reveal in the comments. I for one am excited and look forward to my first foray into Dead by Daylight. Let’s hope I’m not disappointed.
