If you’re a fan of Bethesda games, chances are you’ve heard of Shirley Curry aka, Skyrim Grandma. She’s best known for being, well, a grandma who’s obsessed with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. She’s been streaming the game, attending cons, and is even set to be a character in Elder Scrolls 6. However, after doing this for some time, she’s decided to stop making video game content.
Shirley Curry, 88 years old, has recorded playthroughs of some of the biggest games ever since 2011. In 2015 is when she started uploading Skyrim content, prompting the nickname we’ve all come to know her by. Her fame in doing this granted her several opportunities within the gaming space, including being invited to the Bethesda offices to scan her body for Elder Scrolls 6.
Skyrim Grandma Won’t Stop Making Videos, Just Gaming Ones
The above video shows Curry discussing how she will not be recording any more videos about gaming content. She says that even though she won’t create gaming content for various reasons, majorly because it’s no longer fun to do.
She will still upload vlogs, though there will not be a clear schedule. For now, most of the content will involve her recovery from an eye surgery she is undergoing. One of the biggest reasons for her decision is that this surgery will force her to stop playing games anyway.
Curry states that the eye surgery is scheduled to take play today, September 23, and she will do her best to update her followers. It’s a little disheartening to see such a gaming figurehead leave, though I can completely understand the reason behind her decision. It’s never fun to continue doing something if you no longer find it fun.
