Anyone who played the Beta for EA Sports UFC 3 knows that the voices commentating the fights were Joe Rogan and John Anik. It would, therefore, stand to reason that that duo would provide audio for all of the game’s modes. Well, you know what they say when you assume. Turns out the UFC enlisted the D. O. Double G to voice the game’s Knockout Mode.
On its face to the casual fan it might seem strange to have the rapper, and well-known football fan, providing the voice work for a UFC game. Over the past year, Snoop has been working the commentary booth with UFC legend Urijah Faber on Dana White’s Contender Series. The series can be seen on UFC Fight pass, a service seen by few but the hardcore of UFC fans.
In the provided trailer for Knockout Mode in EA Sports UFC 3 we see some of Snoop’s vivacious personality as he reacts to the brutal, lifelike, knockouts that can happen in the mode. A personal favorite has to be when Snoop exclaims, “Oh, that’s the night-night stick”. Given that Snoop Dogg is a well-known rapper, it comes as no surprise then that a lot of his comments contain a bill of salty language.
The Knockout Mode in EA Sports UFC 3 has been a favorite in the series so far among fans. In the previous title, grappling went completely out the window in the mode. Fighters had to just land five good shots to the noggin or the body of their opponent to score the storied K.O. Simple as that. What many feels is the purest form of combat, striking on the feet, is on full display. Matches are then a best of three where scoring a second K.O. determines the winner. EA Sports UFC 3 releases on Xbox One and PS4 February 2, 2018.
