What To Expect From The Sonic Frontiers Sights, Sounds, and Speed DLC

Sonic Frontiers Sights, Sounds, and Speed is the first of three DLC waves coming to Sonic Frontiers throughout 2023. SEGA announced the waves last year shortly after the release of the game to prepare fans for another year of Sonic content.

This first wave of DLC will add several new features and modes to Sonic Frontiers. These include a Jukebox Mode, a Photo Mode, and a New Challenge Mode. With the Jukebox Modem, players will be able to listen to a total of 53 tracks in any of the open zone areas, 13 of which of will be available as soon as the DLC is downloaded.

The remaining 40 songs can be obtained by collecting orange Sound Memories from across the Starfall Islands. The songs will likely include several attacks from across the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise.

The Photo Mode allows players to take photos of Sonic in action on the Starfall Islands as well as its beautiful landscapes. There are several filters and editing options to customize the photos however fans want.

Finally, the Challenge Modes are two fold: A CyberSpace Challenge and a Boss Rush Challenge.

The former sees players race through seven different CyberSpace levels one after the other as fast as they possibly can to compete against the clock and make a new record. The latter involves taking on several rounds of enemies and bosses in increasingly difficult battle scenarios, including enemies, guardians and Titans, all against the clock as well for the fastest record. There is apparently a special surprise for players that achieve the highest rank.

The Sonic Frontiers Wave 1 DLC was teased for a release earlier the month following an update on the SteamDB store page.

Sonic Frontiers 2023 DLC Roadmap via SEGA

The next two waves of DLC have yet to receive release dates, but it is possible that they will come around mid and late 2023. The second wave will include an update in celebration of Sonic’s birthday (further alluding to around a June 2023 release), a new Open Zone Challenge, and a new Koco character for players to encounter in the Starfall Islands.

The final DLC update will include new playable characters for fans to take control of in the Starfall Islands, including Tails, Amy, Knuckles and apparently Sage, along with a brand new story scenario.

The Sonic Frontiers Sights, Sounds, and Speed DLC release date is March 22, 2023 at 5 PM PST/8 PM EDT. SEGA is already beginning to send out emails to fans that signed up for updates.

Sonic Frontiersย is currently available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
