Sony and Disney have announced a handful of new release dates for their upcoming Marvel films. According to Deadline, Sony has made many changes to its theatrical release schedule. This has caused Disney to slightly readjust its own schedule after recently reworking it.

Sony is pushing the third entry in itsĀ Spider-ManĀ franchise from July 16th, 2021 to November 5th, 2021. Disney will be financing 25% of the film, which were the terms in the rectified deal between the two studios last year. The partnership guarantees Spidey’s inclusion in the MCU for a couple more movies. It also means Disney has to adapt accordingly. November 5th was the original release date ofĀ Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. But now, Disney has pushed the sequel back to March 25th, 2022. Interestingly, Disney has also moved the release date for Thor: Love and ThunderĀ up a week to February 11th, 2022.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse from Sony

In other Sony/Marvel news, Deadline also reports that the sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse has moved from April 8th, 2022 to October 7th, 2022.Ā Spider-VerseĀ won a Best Animated Feature Film Oscar in 2019, and many consider it to be one of Sony’s best Spider-ManĀ movies.

However, it wasn’t all just about Marvel. Sony has moved around several other high-profile projects likely due to COVID-19. The troubled UnchartedĀ adaptation has moved up from October 8th, 2021, to July 16th, 2021. This is surprising, given that Sony delayed production because of the virus earlier this year.Ā Hotel Transylvania 4 has also moved up from December 22nd, 2021 to August 6th, 2021.Ā Connected,Ā an animated movie fromĀ Spider-VerseĀ producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller has moved from September 18th, 2020 to October 23rd, 2020.

The full list of release date changes can be viewed on Deadline. But there are a couple of other untitled releases from Disney that received dates. An untitled live-action feature has taken the spot of an unknown 20th Century Studios movie on April 8th, 2022. Disney also slated an event movie to release on July 9th, 2021. But we’ll have to wait to see what those are.
