Sony has officially announced the Premium Warbond “Freedom’s Flame” for Helldivers 2 along with its release date, following an accidental early reveal. Freedom’s Flame is coming out early next month on August 8, 2024. The Premium Warbond will mainly focus on burn damage and introduce new weapons, armor, emotes, skins, and of course, flowy capes. Mitch Ayre, the community manager at Arrowhead Game Studios revealed these details over on PlayStation Blog.
If you were around for the previous Premium Warbonds, this will sound familiar. Freedom’s Flame for Helldivers 2 will be priced at 1,000 Super Credits, which can be attained through different in-game activities or by splurging and paying $9.99 in the game’s shop. These warbonds will not expire, so if you don’t want to spend any real money, you can take your time and gather enough Super Credits to get all the new items.
The Freedom Flame Premium Warbond for Helldivers 2 will include multiple new primary weapons, a secondary weapon, a booster, and a handful of new armor options, all of which will focus on fire-related abilities and buffs.
The release of Freedom’s Flame comes two days after the Escalation of Freedom update, which is the largest update for Helldivers 2 since its launch. The update will come out on August 6, while Freedom’s Flame will come out on August 8. The update itself will also come with some new content like new missions, objectives, enemies, planets, and even a new difficulty mode.
Helldivers 2 is currently available on PC and PlayStation 5. It had an absolutely explosive launch in February. It quickly became one of the fastest-selling PlayStation games by shipping over 12 million copies in just the first two weeks and has been spreading democracy ever since. Sony recently forced players to sign up for a PSN account to continue playing the game on PC, which resulted in fierce backlash, enough that Sony had to rescind the requirement.
