Sony continues to make PC gaming a priority, slowly allowing PlayStation owners to transition to the PC for their exclusives. From the introduction of past exclusives on PC to adding PC support to the PSVR2, the company is taking computer gaming seriously. Gamers who play on PC can now use the DualSense Edge controller to its full potential by installing the new PlayStation Accessories app.

The PlayStation Accessories app is the new and improved version of what was previously known as the Firmware Updates for DualSense Edge Wireless Controller on PC. It was clearly not the ideal experience, so Sony’s new app significantly improves the design and user experience and lets players use the DualSense to its full extent.

The improvements include the ability to make, change, and switch between different custom controller profiles while on PC, exactly like it is possible to do on the PlayStation 5. This will let players have different custom settings depending on the game they wish to play, so one for an FPS game, another for a fighting game, and one for platformers that puts the back buttons to good use, and so on.

The customization options aren’t limited to that, however, as the announcement from Sony also listed some of the options people will have like stick sensitivity, dead zone size, trigger dead zone location, custom button mapping, vibration settings, adaptive trigger effects, and a lot more.

Since the DualSense Edge also works on mobile devices, anyone who has already purchased the Pro Controller will have even more ways of using it. The PlayStation Accessories app comes amid Sony’s move to bring live-service games to PC, like Helldivers 2 and Concord. One of which was a massive success, and the other was a remarkable bust.

DualSense and DualShock controllers still require third-party software to function properly on a PC. Hopefully, soon, the PlayStation Accessories app will support older controllers as well, allowing people to natively use their PS controllers on PC to play other games as well.

A passionate gamer and Street Fighter nut, often found with a controller in close proximity. When I'm not playing games, I'm probably writing about them.
