Playing in some of the dark scenes on The Sopranos was challenging. However, following the end of the series, Robert Iler reveals he did not continue seeking work in Hollywood. Most of the time, he preferred to lay low, living his life away from the camera.
Robert Iler reveals that he made a living as a semi-pro poker player for a while. However, according to The Sun, he was forced to quit due to his addiction to drugs and alcohol. During a past interview on the Talk Sopranos podcast, Robert opened up about his troubled life.
Real Life Imitates TV For Soprano’s Star
The HBO cast member reveals troubles with the law before and after the series ends. In 2001, Robert Iler was arrested for the robbing of two teenagers and possession of marijuana. He pled guilty to the larceny charge and was given three years probation.
In 2005, he was present at an underground poker club, Ace Point, when the police raided the establishment. He escaped charges but soon began his short career as a semi-pro poker player. He admits he made money playing cards but often gambled it away on roulette or sports betting.
The Sopranos star admits he was drinking a lot during this time. However, he claims to have been sober from alcohol and hard drugs for the past seven years. However, Robert admitted he was using Xanax every day and had to seek help from a specialist to help him kick his habit.
Now, Robert Iler will occasionally show up to talk about his days on The Sopranos. He admits his memories are few because he has yet to watch the entire series. But, for the most part, he reportedly enjoys living a reclusive life and is rarely seen in public by his fans.
