There have been some fast speedrunners featured here, but beating out a nuclear explosion? That’s got to be some kind of record. And guess what? It is a record – a world record. Welcome to a Speedrun Fast centered on the one and only Fallout 4. This episode follows BubblesDelFuego as he completes the game’s central story in less than an hour. The run starts at the house a few minutes before the bomb falls and ends with the press of a detonator. Uploaded in late May, Bubbles’s run tops the former record, also uploaded that month, by less than a minute. Naturally, the video contains spoilers of Fallout 4’s story, so beware.

As may be obvious from the time, this is not a glitchless run. Nor is it very humanitarian, as the runner bursts forth from his house towards the vault without even a glance back at his wife and son. From there, traffic cones continue to be his best friend and weapon of choice for clipping through boundaries. Who knew those innocent orange dunce hats secretly held the power to kick physics in the teeth? Even with the completion time displayed prominently in the video title, you’ll find yourself counting down the seconds as that final button is pressed. But naturally, Bubbles just had to get in one more crime against humanity by shooting his friend in the face afterward.
Fallout 4 is a mere eight months old, but that’s more than enough of a lifespan to be fair game for a speedrun. Such runs likely won’t peter out anytime soon, as the latest recorded run was for the bronze trophy less than a month ago, according to the leaderboard. Bubbles even stated towards the end that he lost a bit of time during the run, meaning an even quicker time is possible. Just don’t try to outrun a nuclear explosion in real life. It won’t end well.
